Gujarat Titans, IPL 2026: Before IPL 2026, Gujarat Titans are taking a big gamble and have changed their coaching staff. The franchise has appointed former Australian batsman Matthew Hayden as the batting coach for the upcoming season.

The team announced the appointment of Hayden as its batting coach by sharing a post through social media. The caption read, “Powerhouse. Legend. Our new batting coach.” Let us tell you that Hayden was known for his explosive batting. In such a situation, he can be an ideal batting match for Gujarat.

On getting the responsibility of batting coach, Matthew Hayden said, “Good batting creates pressure. Excellent batting dominates the match. This is the standard we want to set in Gujarat Titans.”

How was the performance of Gujarat Titans last season?

Gujarat Titans, which won the IPL title in its debut season, performed well in the last season i.e. 2025 and qualified for the playoffs. The team had won 9 out of 14 league matches and faced defeat in only 04 matches. The remaining 1 match was inconclusive. However, in the playoff stage, the team had to face defeat in the eliminator against Mumbai Indians.

Talking about the international career of Australian legend Matthew Hayden, he played 103 Tests, 161 ODIs and 09 T20 Internationals. In 184 innings of Test, he scored 8625 runs at an excellent average of 50.73. During this period, he scored 30 centuries and 29 half-centuries, in which the high score was 380 runs.

Apart from this, in 155 innings of ODI, Hayden scored 6133 runs at an average of 43.80, which included 10 centuries and 36 half-centuries. The high score in this was 181* runs. In the remaining 09 innings of T20 International, he scored 308 runs at an average of 51.33 and strike rate of 143.92, which included 4 half-centuries. The biggest score in this was 73* runs.
