West Bengal News: A very painful and heartbreaking news has come out from Anandpur area of Kolkata in West Bengal. The death toll in the massive fire that broke out in two warehouses located in Nazirabad area has increased to 8. After this accident the entire area is immersed in mourning. There is mourning all around and the condition of those who lost their loved ones is crying and crying.
The fire was so severe that many bodies were badly burnt. Even identification of faces is not possible. For this reason, DNA test is being used to identify the dead bodies. Many people of Anandpur and surrounding areas are making rounds of hospitals, police stations and incident sites in search of their missing relatives.
Fire engulfed two warehouses
According to the information, a fire broke out in a decorators warehouse in Nazirabad area of Anandpur near EM Bypass on Sunday night. Within no time the fire spread to the nearby food warehouse. Within a few minutes, flames engulfed both the warehouses.
Many employees working inside the warehouse got caught in the fire. Eyewitnesses and relatives of the missing employees allege that the door of the warehouse was closed, due to which the people trapped inside could not come out. Many employees died on the spot, while some are still reported missing.
Search continues after removing debris from JCB
After the fire was extinguished, the fire department started removing the burnt iron structure and debris with the help of JCB machine. After this, the people trapped inside are being searched. Officials say that there is a possibility of some people still being buried under the debris.
This accident has raised serious questions on the security arrangements of warehouses. It has been told that only two fire extinguishers of 5 kg each were installed in such a big factory. There was neither a sprinkler system nor any modern fire detection system. Former employees say that there was no effective system in place in case of fire.
Big revelation of former employee
A former employee of the warehouse said that while the warehouse was being built, there was talk of installing a sprinkler system, but it was never implemented. He said that there were a lot of flammable materials inside and there were not enough resources to extinguish the fire.
Fire officials have also admitted that the fire extinguishing system proved to be a complete failure. He says that if the security arrangements were proper then the loss of life and property would not have been so big. Many poor families have been ruined after this accident. There is now silence in the houses where there was happiness. Anandpur has currently turned into a city of death.
