Bengaluru: Car overturns after hitting divider, then collides with bus, 5 youth die tragically

Bengaluru News: A tragic road accident took place late Saturday night on the outskirts of Bengaluru city in Karnataka, plunging five families into deep grief. In this accident that took place on Tumkuru Road, five people traveling in a car collided with a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus and died. This accident happened on Saturday night at around 11:30 pm.

According to the police, a car going from Tumkuru towards Bengaluru suddenly collided with the divider. After the collision, the car went into the opposite lane and overturned. At the same time, a speeding KSRTC bus coming from the front hit the car. The collision was so strong that the car was completely damaged and its front part was badly shattered.

Four died on the spot, one died in the hospital

In the accident, four youth aged between 17 to 22 years died on the spot. The seriously injured boy was immediately taken to the hospital, but he also died during treatment. Among the deceased, Harshit and Likhit have been identified as residents of Doddaballapur. Both Harshit and Lakhit were students studying in private colleges. According to family members, Harshit had left the house at around 8:30 pm on Saturday night, saying he was going to meet his friends. The mother of one of the victims told that her son had talked about going to the temple and informed that he would be late, but no one had any idea that this would be his last conversation.

Did high speed become the reason for the accident?

In the preliminary investigation, the police have considered high speed as the main reason for the accident. It is suspected that the driver lost control of the vehicle, due to which the car first hit the divider and then went into the other lane.

Joint Police Commissioner Karthik Reddy said that the cause of the accident is being thoroughly investigated. Blood samples have been sent to the Forensic Science Lab (FSL) to ascertain whether the driver or other passengers had consumed alcohol or not.

Bus passengers safe, investigation underway

There were about 42 to 43 passengers in the KSRTC bus at the time of the accident. Due to the collision, some passengers sitting in the front seats suffered minor injuries. After the accident, all the passengers were sent by another bus. A case has been registered at Madanayakanahalli police station and further investigation is underway.
