Bengaluru Murder News: A shocking incident has come to light in Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka, where a retired ISRO employee strangled his wife to death. Police investigation revealed that the retired ISRO employee did this out of fear of who would take care of him after his death. After this he thought of committing suicide, but due to fear he changed his mind. Citing preliminary investigation, the police officer said that the accused was suffering from severe depression.

The name of the 76 year old accused is Nageshwar Rao and he was working as a team leader in ISRO. Police said that he was currently undergoing treatment for some mental problems. The incident took place on Wednesday morning at ‘The Virtuoso’, a residential complex for senior citizens in Bommanahalli in the Whitefield area.

Kept sitting near the body for 20 minutes after the murder

According to preliminary information, around 10.15 am, when 63-year-old Sandhya Sri was cooking in the kitchen, Rao strangled her with a towel. After he became unconscious, Rao remained sitting near the body for about 20 minutes. He then called his neighbor and said, “I have killed my wife.” Initially the neighbor thought it was a joke, but when Rao kept repeating the same thing again and again, the neighbors immediately came home.

Seeing Sandhya lying unconscious on the floor, the doctors of the apartment were called. Since senior citizens live there, ambulances and doctors are available 24 hours. After investigation, doctors declared him dead and informed the police.

Who will take care of them after my death?

When the police reached the spot, Rao was sitting on the sofa. Confessing to the crime, he said, “I will not be able to live more than three-four years. Who will take care of him after my death?” This couple hailing from Andhra Pradesh had bought this flat three years ago. His only daughter is settled in the US.

This incident has created a stir among the police and senior citizen organizations. This incident is being considered worrying in view of the increasing popularity of collective residential complexes for senior citizens in Bengaluru. The accused has been arrested and further investigation is underway.
