A case of fraud has been registered against Bhojpuri film industry actress Akanksha Awasthi and her husband Vivek Kumar alias Abhishek Kumar Singh Chauhan at Pantnagar Police Station, Ghatkopar East, Mumbai.
Hitesh Kantilal Ajmera, 52, who is involved in the custom clearance business, has complained to the Mumbai Police.
Complainant Hitesh has alleged that actress Akanksha Awasthi, her husband Vivek and their associates together cheated him of about Rs 11.50 crore.
According to the complaint given to Mumbai Police, the accused described themselves as having a strong hold in the Bhojpuri film and TV industry and being financially very prosperous. Akanksha Awasthi had claimed that she has her own film studio and artist training center in the posh area of ​​Andheri. Apart from this, the complainant was prepared to invest by promising him ownership of the studio, name and fame and an interest-free loan of Rs 200 crore.
In the complaint lodged with the Mumbai Police, it has also been said that Akanksha’s husband Vivek Kumar, while narrating a story, had claimed that he had about Rs 300 crore in cash kept in a warehouse in Bettiah area of ​​Bihar, which was stuck due to some legal hurdles. He had said that to withdraw this money, temporary investment is needed and in return Rs 200 crore will be returned without interest within four days. Bhojpuri actor Akanksha Awasthi herself had assured that the amount would be returned soon.
According to the victim Hitesh Ajmera, between March and July 2024, he transferred a total of Rs 11.50 crore to different bank accounts. To win his trust, the accused took him to Patna and showed him documents related to the alleged warehouse and planned to take him to Bettiah. Hitesh told that on July 5, 2024, while going to Bettiah, Vivek Kumar went out on the pretext of buying sweets, but did not return. After this his mobile phone also got switched off. For some time the accused kept making different excuses, but later became completely out of touch.
Based on the complaint of the victim, Pantnagar police station of Mumbai Police has registered a case and started investigating the entire incident. According to sources, the accused are said to be out of contact.
