CBI has arrested a senior Defense Ministry official in a major bribery case. CBI arrested Lieutenant Colonel Deepak Kumar Sharma and a private person Vinod Kumar on 20 December 2025. According to CBI, this case was registered on December 19, 2025 on the basis of concrete information.
It is alleged that Lieutenant Colonel Deepak Kumar Sharma, who was posted on the post of International Cooperation and Export in the Defense Production Department, was taking bribes from private defense companies for a long time. In return, they were giving unfair benefits to these companies from government departments.
Dubai company also included
Investigation has also revealed that a Dubai based company is also involved in this case. Rajiv Yadav and Ravjit Singh, who looked after the operations of this company in India, were operating from Bengaluru.
It is alleged that these people were in constant touch with Lieutenant Colonel Sharma and were trying to get government approval and other benefits for their company.
Gave a bribe of Rs 3 lakh?
CBI says that on December 18, 2025, Vinod Kumar had given a bribe of Rs 3 lakh to Lieutenant Colonel Deepak Kumar Sharma at the behest of the company. Action was taken on the basis of this transaction.
Raids in many areas including Delhi
CBI raided many places including Delhi, Sriganganagar, Bengaluru and Jammu. Apart from the bribe amount of Rs 3 lakh, about Rs 2.23 lakh in cash was recovered from the house of Lieutenant Colonel in Delhi. At the same time, Rs 10 lakh cash and many important documents have also been seized from his house in Sriganganagar, Rajasthan.
The search of his office in New Delhi is also still going on. CBI presented both the accused in the court, from where they have been sent on police remand till 23 December 2025. CBI says that the role of more people is being investigated in this case.
