The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken major action in the jihadi conspiracy case related to the banned organization Popular Front of India (PFI) in Kerala. On Wednesday (January 28, 2026), NIA simultaneously raided a total of 9 locations in different areas of Kerala state. During this period, the agency has recovered digital devices, important documents and many objectionable materials, which are said to be related to the activities of PFI and its associated organizations.
This case was registered by NIA in September 2022. Investigation has revealed that PFI was conspiring to spread the ideology of violent jihad in the country and break India and establish Islamic rule by 2047.
Conspiracy to push youth towards radicalism: NIA
The investigating agency says that PFI leaders and workers were working to radicalize the youth. Especially such youth were being targeted, who could be easily misled. They were being trained to spread communal hatred, prepare them for violence and use weapons.
PFI also active in raising funds for terrorist activities: NIA
NIA investigation has also revealed that PFI was not only providing arms training but was also active in raising funds for terrorist activities. Preparations were being made to carry out violence and terrorist incidents by collecting money through different networks of the organization.
Investigation has also revealed that PFI had created many different wings and units to fulfill its objective. These included Reporters Wing, Physical and Arms Training Wing and Service Teams or Hit Teams.
Weapons training is being given under the guise of physical education: NIA
The organization was carrying forward its agenda through these wings. According to NIA, weapons training was given under the guise of things like physical education, yoga training on the organization’s campus and other locations. At the same time, hit teams were being prepared to eliminate specific targets. NIA has made it clear that the investigation in this matter is still going on and more revelations may be made in the coming days.
