The Railway Ministry has taken major action after the goods train accident on Jasidih–Jhajha railway route of Patna-Howrah main line. The ministry has transferred DRM of Asansol division Vineeta Srivastava with immediate effect. He had taken over the charge of Asansol DRM just 5 months ago in August 2025. After the goods train accident that took place last week in Jamui district of Bihar, traffic on the Patna-Howrah main railway route was badly affected.
Who will be the new DRM of Asansol Railway Division?
According to the order issued by the Railway Board, now Sudhir Kumar Sharma will be the new DRM of Asansol Railway Division. Vinita Srivastava is an officer of Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME) of 1994 batch and SCRA (SCRA) of 1991.
The Railway Board had constituted a team of five Central Joint Secretary level officers to investigate this accident. After this accident, Howrah-Dehradun Kumbh Express (12369), Sealdah-Ballia Express (13105), Mokama-Howrah Express (13030), Jasidih-Mokama MEMU (63571), Kiul-Jasidih MEMU (63574), Deoghar-Jhajha MEMU (63297) and Jhajha-Deoghar MEMU. More than 20 trains including (63298) were cancelled.
Many trains were affected after the train accident
According to railway officials, coaches of a goods train derailed between Lahaban-Simultala station of Asansol Division (Eastern Railway). Due to which operations on both the up and down lines of this railway section have been disrupted. As soon as the information was received, ARTs from Asansol, Madhupur, Jhajha reached the spot and worked on war footing to restore operations."text-align: justify;">At 11:20 pm, between Simultala and Lahaban stations on Jasidih–Jhajha railway section, a goods train had met with an accident on the railway bridge of Barua river, in which 17 bogies of the goods train were derailed. Some of these bogies had fallen into the Barua river near Telwa Bazar Halt.
