A Congress proposal has been listed in the Lok Sabha on Monday to remove Om Birla from the post of Speaker of the Lok Sabha. The opposition, especially the Congress, has been accusing Birla of adopting a partisan attitude in the House for a long time. Three Congress MPs Mohammad Javed, K Suresh and Mallu Ravi are to present a motion against Om Birla today, while on the other hand, a letter from the Congress leader himself has left everyone in confusion.
Congress MP from Chandigarh Manish Tiwari has written a letter to the General Secretary of Lok Sabha today (9 March). He has presented an adjournment motion, in which he has demanded a serious discussion on the issue of Middle East in the House today and has also expressed his concern about India’s energy security.
What did Manish Tiwari write in the letter
Manish Tiwari wrote in his letter that I appeal for permission to move a proposal to adjourn the proceedings of the House to discuss a very important topic. I move that this House adjourn Question Hour, Zero Hour and all other listed proceedings of the day so that the serious concerns arising from the escalating conflict in West Asia can be considered.
Apart from this, the Congress MP said that due to the war going on in the Middle East, its impact on India’s energy security should be considered. He further wrote that in view of these changing scenarios, the House wants an immediate discussion on the assessment of the situation by the government and the steps being taken to protect the interests of India.
Motion to be presented against Lok Sabha Speaker
