Before the start of IPL 2026, Gujarat Titans has appointed Vijay Dahiya as assistant coach. Vijay Dahiya is a former wicket-keeper batsman for India and represented the Indian cricket team in 19 ODIs and 2 Test matches. Played for Delhi in domestic cricket and became active in coaching after his cricket career ended.
Gujarat Titans team is busy strengthening its coaching staff. Earlier, GT franchise has appointed veteran Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden as the batting coach. Under his coaching, Delhi won the Ranji Trophy 2007-08 title. Vijay Dahiya’s name is held with great respect in Indian domestic cricket.
He has worked in the Indian Premier League before also. He has been the assistant coach of Lucknow Super Giants for the 2022 and 2023 seasons of IPL. Apart from being the assistant coach of Kolkata Knight Riders, he has also been a talent scout for Delhi Capitals.
Gujarat Titans’ performance in IPL
Gujarat Titans entered the Indian Premier League in 2022. In its very first season i.e. IPL 2022, Gujarat was successful in winning the trophy. After that, Gujarat also reached the final of IPL 2023, but in the final it had to face a 5-wicket defeat at the hands of CSK.
In IPL 2024, Gujarat Titans team could not even go to the playoffs and had to be content with eighth place in the points table. Gujarat made a comeback in the 2025 season and made it to the playoffs again. The Gujarat team was deprived of winning the second title as it had to face a 20-run defeat at the hands of Mumbai Indians in the eliminator.
