Airtel and Google: Bharti Airtel and Google have announced a new initiative to provide relief to mobile users in India from spam and fake messages. Both the companies have together decided to create a messaging system which will not only be equipped with modern features but will also be strong in terms of security. This collaboration combines Airtel’s network intelligence with Google’s RCS platform to provide a secure and better user experience.
Advanced features will be available in RCS messaging
Under this partnership, users will get a better experience of Rich Communication Services i.e. RCS. Through this, it will be easy to send high-quality photos and videos, react to messages and have interactive conversations. All these features will be available directly through the Google Messages app which is pre-installed in most Android smartphones.
Strict control on spam and fraud
In the new system, business senders will be identified through telecom based verification so that fake companies cannot send messages. Also, Do Not Disturb (DND) preferences of users will also be respected.
Multi-layer security mechanism will be added to the system, which will filter suspicious links and harmful messages. Airtel and Google’s AI-based spam detection technology will limit messages from senders that are already considered suspicious.
Telecom level security now in messaging
The aim of this initiative is to extend traditional telecom security standards to modern messaging platforms. Airtel’s intelligence systems and Google’s spam detection technology are being combined to create a secure ecosystem that will provide carrier-backed protection.

Bharti Airtel Executive Vice Chairman Gopal Vittal said that the company has been working for a long time to curb spam through data and smart networks. According to him, this partnership with Google is an important step towards making rich messaging more secure.
Google’s Android ecosystem head Sameer Samat said that with this initiative, Indian mobile users will be able to communicate with more confidence. He also indicated that Google will work with other telecom companies to standardize messaging security in the future.
