In view of the assembly elections to be held in West Bengal, the Railway Ministry has directed to run two additional special trains from Mumbai to Howrah (Kolkata). Both these additional special trains will run from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus in Kurla, Mumbai under Central Railway to Howrah. This train is being run especially for the people who come to Mumbai from Bengal for work, so that they can go to their state and vote during the elections. However, according to the Railways, special trains are also being run to reduce the extra pressure during summer holidays.

LTT–Howrah–LTT special trains
- Train No. 01145 Special will depart from Lokmanya Tilat Terminus at 20:15 (08:15) PM on Tuesday (April 14, 2026) and reach Howrah at 06:00 AM on the third day (Thursday (April 16, 2026)).
- At the same time, train number 01146 special will depart from Howrah on Thursday (April 16, 2026) at 14:45 (02:45) pm and will reach Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) the next day on Friday (April 17, 2026) at 23:45 (11:45) night.
Where will the special trains stop?
For these two special trains running between Mumbai-Howrah-Mumbai, stoppages have been given at 17 stations in between. Which includes Thane, Kalyan, Nashik Road, Bhusaval, Akola, Badnera, Nagpur, Gondia, Durg, Raipur, Bilaspur, Jharsuguda, Rourkela, Chakradharpur, Tatanagar, Kharagpur and Santragachi.
The train will also have general to 2-tier AC bogies.
If we talk about the structure of special trains, then this special train will include two 2-tier AC coaches, nine 3-tier AC coaches, three sleeper class, four general second class, one second seating cum guard brake van and one generator van.
How will the booking be done for the special train?
Booking for special train number 01145 will open from Sunday (April 12, 2026) at all computerized reservation centers and website www.irctc.co.in. Whereas for unreserved coaches, booking at normal fare can be done through UTS system. Passengers can also download RailOne app for ticket booking and detailed timetable information on stoppages of these special trains can be easily found on www.enquiry.indianrail.gov.in or on NTES app.
