Government agency Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has issued a warning saying that many security flaws have been found in this browser, due to which there is a risk of cyber attack on those using Google Crow on Windows, macOS and Linux. Which version of Google Chrome is more at risk?
If you are using a version of Google Chrome older than 145.0.7632.75/76 on Windows or Mac and older than 144.0.7559.75 on Linux, then you need to worry. The agency has found flaws in these versions of Chrome. Therefore, remote attacks may still occur on users using these versions. The agency says that these flaws have been found in the CSS rendering component of Chrome. By taking advantage of these, attackers can manipulate memory handling inside the browser. In this way, they can steal data and cause service disruption by taking access to the entire system.
What should users do to deal with the big threat?
The agency has placed this warning in the high risk category, which shows that this danger is quite big. To deal with this, users have been advised to update the Chrome browser. Users and organizations can install updates released through Google Stable Channel. Security patches have been released in this update to fix these flaws. Generally, users are also advised to keep their devices and software updated. With this, they also get protection from cyber attacks and also keep getting new features.
