BRS Supremo K. Chandrashekhar Rao’s reply to police, assurance of cooperation in investigation, laid down his conditions for appearance

Former Chief Minister of Telangana and leader of opposition K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) has given a formal reply to the notice issued by Jubilee Hills Police. This case is of investigation related to crime number 243/2024, in connection with which ACP P. Venkatagiri had directed him to appear on 30 January 2026 at 3:00 pm.

KCR has promised full cooperation in the investigation, but has expressed his inability to come to the police station citing his busy schedule and legal provisions. Currently the process of elections for municipalities and municipal corporations is going on in Telangana and January 30 is the last date for filing nominations.

Of. What did Chandrashekhar Rao say?
The BRS chief clarified that he is busy in issuing official B-Forms and authorizations to the candidates on behalf of the party, due to which he cannot appear at the scheduled time. He has requested the police to fix some other date as per his convenience. Referring to the legal nuances, KCR has cited Section 160 of CrPC.

He wrote in the letter that according to the law, any man above 65 years of age should be interrogated at his residence instead of being called to the police station. KCR proposed that the police could come and investigate him at his Eravali residence (H.No. 3-96) in Markuk mandal of Siddipet district. He also clarified that in future all notices should be sent to this address.

Being a former Chief Minister of the state and a responsible citizen, KCR reiterated that he respects the law and will extend full support to the investigation team, provided it is within the legal ambit. Now it will be interesting to see what stand the Hyderabad Police takes on this legal argument and whether the investigation team will go to his farmhouse in Eravali for questioning.
