BSNL Cover Feature: Many times women have to share their mobile numbers in public places, which increases their concerns about privacy. Especially while recharging the mobile, divulging the number at shops or retail outlets can create an uncomfortable situation for many women. Keeping this problem in mind, government telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has introduced a new feature which has been named Kavach Number.
This facility was started on the occasion of International Women’s Day. According to the company, this feature will help in keeping women’s mobile numbers safe and will prevent their personal information from being shared unnecessarily.

The Kavach Number feature has been specially designed keeping in mind the safety and privacy of women. Under this facility, BSNL provides a temporary 10 digit number to the user through SMS. This temporary number is linked to the user’s real mobile number but only that temporary number is visible to the outside world. In this way the real mobile number remains safe and is not shared directly with anyone.
Recharge can be done even without telling the real number
The biggest advantage of this facility is that women can use Kavach number instead of telling their real number to recharge their mobile. When recharge is done, this temporary number works by linking it to the real number through the system and the recharge is completed as usual. In this process the personal mobile number does not reach any outsider.
Special benefits at retail recharge shops
This feature can be especially useful for those women who often resort to retail shops or small outlets for mobile recharge. In such a situation, they will not need to tell their personal number. They can get recharge done by directly sharing the Kavach number so that their personal information remains safe.
How to get Kavach number?
BSNL users can use this facility through BSNL Self Care app. By going to this app, users can get temporary Kavach number. Apart from this, more information related to this feature has also been made available on the official website of BSNL. This initiative is being considered an important step towards strengthening the digital security and privacy of women.
