The incident took place at Gate No. 4 on Wednesday, February 11, during a literary program organized by Irfan Habib at the Faculty of Arts campus.

What did Irfan Habib tell?
Irfan Habib said, ‘Nothing like this was meant to happen there. There were a total of 200 to 250 children there. There was no discussion going on about any party or person. Some people come from behind and throw water, and then throw the bucket. Nothing happened to me. But obviously these are those people who are probably afraid to talk.
He said, ‘If someone does not like the idea then debate but doing this kind of work is not appropriate. The university is a reflection of the environment of the country. We are fighting a battle. Will keep fighting the battle. A thought should not be imposed on any person, this is the time to think. Protests were also held in Delhi University against the attack on Irfan Habib.
Student organization ABVP called the allegations baseless
ABVP has termed the allegations as baseless and false. ABVP says that the leftist student organizations are making such allegations due to its increasing popularity among the students. Delhi State Minister Sarthak Sharma issued a statement saying that ABVP organized an art festival named Madari on 9, 10 and 11 February. Street theater committees of other universities including Delhi University participated in it. According to him, being upset with this successful event, AISA is trying to tarnish the image of ABVP workers. ABVP also said that it is in favor of promoting healthy discourse on campuses and the allegations against it are politically motivated.
