Budget 2026: ‘Developed and self-reliant India…’, what did Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan say about the budget

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented her ninth budget today on Sunday (February 1). Everyone expects from this budget that the government will take concrete steps regarding the economy. In the last few years, the government has rapidly increased spending on roads, railways, defense construction, urban infrastructure and logistics to attract private investment. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan’s statement has also come regarding Budget 2026.

What did Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan say?
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, while talking to journalists at his residence in Delhi today, called it the budget of developed India. However, he did not say much about the budget. Shivraj Singh Chauhan said, ‘Budget of developed and self-reliant India’. The Agriculture Minister left after saying just this. He did not even give the media a chance to ask questions. Union Minister Chouhan planted a sapling in Delhi under the ‘One Plant a Day’ campaign under the daily tree plantation pledge.

Government’s earnings decreased due to tax cuts
In the last few years, Modi government has made big cuts in income tax and GST. Apart from this, a lot has also been spent on infrastructure. However, due to tax cuts, the government’s earnings have decreased, hence there is very little scope for new measures. The biggest challenge now is to take some concrete steps to take the economy forward.

Announcements can be made regarding election states
According to experts, despite the shortage of money, the government is not likely to reduce its expenditure. Keeping in view the election states like West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Assam, Modi government can make some new announcements. For the financial year 2027, economists estimate that there will be a good increase in capex. Railways, power transmission and urban transport will get priority. The government will continue to support interest-free loans for the infrastructure of the states.
