Budget 2026: In the Union Budget 2026, the government has taken a big step to promote the creative industry. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that Content Creator Labs will be set up in 15,000 schools and 500 colleges across the country. Its objective is to strengthen the Orange Economy and connect the youth with new age digital skills.
Government’s focus on AVGC sector
During the budget speech, the Finance Minister said that India’s Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics (AVGC) sector is expanding rapidly. It is estimated that by the year 2030, this industry will need about 20 lakh professionals. Keeping this in mind, AVGC based content creator labs will be created in schools and colleges in collaboration with Mumbai-based Indian Institute of Creative Technologies.
Skill development and employment preparation
Through these labs, students will be taught modern skills like content creation, digital storytelling, game design and visual technology. The government believes that this will provide new opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship to the youth along with education.
Other announcements related to health, education and tourism
Apart from this, plans to establish Ayurveda Center in Jamnagar, Gujarat, strengthen veterinary colleges and diagnostic labs with global partnership were also revealed in the budget. Besides, it was said to promote green tourism by developing eco-friendly mountain treks.
New strategy from education to employment
The Finance Minister also proposed to form a high-level ‘Education to Employment and Enterprise’ standing committee. This committee will work on making the services sector a strong base for ‘Developed India’ and will aim to give India a 10% share in global services by 2047.
Along with this, the impact of emerging technologies like AI on employment and essential skills will also be studied. These announcements made in Budget 2026 are being considered as a big step towards opening new avenues for the youth of India by combining education, creativity and employment.
