The budget session of Parliament is starting from Wednesday. The session will begin with President Draupadi Murmu addressing both the houses. This time the budget session is being considered very important, because along with the budget, there are also chances of heated debates on many political and public interest issues. The opposition has already made a strategy to corner the government.
Budget session will run in two phases
The budget session will be held in two parts. The first phase will run from January 28 to February 13, while the second phase will run from March 9 to April 2. Many important bills and issues are expected to be discussed in Parliament during these weeks.
Union budget will be presented on 1 February
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget for the year 2026-27 on 1 February. Before the budget, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will call an all-party meeting on January 31. This meeting is held every year before the budget, so that the proceedings of the Parliament can run smoothly.
The opposition tightened its belt
While the government is busy preparing for the budget, the opposition has also intensified its strategy. Opposition parties say that they will not be limited to just the budget, but will seek answers from the government on many big issues.
Preparation to corner the government on MGNREGA and SIR
According to PTI, the opposition will strongly raise issues related to MGNREGA, Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process and environment. These issues may remain at the center of debate during the session.
Congress strategy meeting at Sonia Gandhi’s house
On Tuesday, the strategy group meeting of the Congress Parliamentary Party was held at Sonia Gandhi’s residence. The party’s priorities for the budget session were decided in the meeting. Issues like VB G RAM Act and SIR process were discussed in it.
MGNREGA will be the main issue of Congress
Congress MP Syed Naseer Hussain said that it was decided in the meeting that MNREGA will be the main issue of the opposition. Apart from this, questions related to environment, Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir and foreign policy will also be raised in Parliament.
Rahul Gandhi and Kharge were present
Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also attended this meeting. Kharge has called another meeting of opposition parties just before the start of the budget session on Wednesday, so that they can unite in Parliament and corner the government.
