Congress Parliamentary Party President and Rajya Sabha MP Sonia Gandhi on Saturday (December 20, 2025) targeted the Central Government regarding the MNREGA scheme. He said that Congress had a big contribution in bringing and implementing MNREGA. This was a scheme related to national interest and public interest, but by weakening this law, Modi government has attacked the interests of crores of farmers, laborers and landless rural class poor of the country. He said that we are all ready to counter this attack.

He said, ‘He not only removed the name of Mahatma Gandhi, but also arbitrarily changed the form of MNREGA without any discussion, without consulting anyone, without taking the opposition into confidence. Now who will get employment, how much, where and how, this will be decided by the government sitting in Delhi, away from the ground reality.
