The Election Commission has announced the assembly election dates of four states of the country and one union territory on Sunday. Besides, by-elections have been announced for 8 assemblies of 6 other states. By-elections are held on those seats, either when the candidate winning from that seat resigns, or he dies.
According to the Election Commission, voting will be held in two phases on all these seats. Voting will be held in some states on April 9, while in others voting will be held on April 23. Their election results will also be announced on May 4.
Code of conduct applicable on all seats
With this announcement, the code of conduct has come into effect on all seats. Political parties have also intensified election preparations after the announcement. Interesting contests can be seen on these seats.
Voting will take place in these states on April 9
The states where voting is to be held on April 9 include the assembly seats of Goa, Karnataka, Nagaland and Tripura. All politicians can announce candidates for this seat.
Voting will be held on these seats on 23 April
Apart from this, voting will be held on the assembly seats of Gujarat and Maharashtra on 23 April. Movement has increased on these seats also. Political parties can no longer delay in announcing their candidates. Like other states, counting of votes on all these seats will take place on May 4.
What other information did the Chief Election Commissioner give?
Announcing the election dates, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said that votes will be cast at 2.19 lakh polling stations in four states and one union territory. 25 lakh election officers will be deployed here. He said that the average number of voters per polling station in Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal is 750-900. He said that the presiding officers deployed at all the polling stations will upload the voting percentage every two hours and the voting data will be uploaded immediately after the end of the elections.
