At least 10 people, including a suspected shooter, were killed in a shooting incident at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School, located in the Canadian province of British Columbia on Tuesday, 10 February. According to a report by CNN, the school will be closed for the rest of the week following the incident, which is said to be the site of Canada’s deadliest school shooting in decades.
Six people were found dead inside a high school, two more people were found dead at a residence that police believe is connected to the incident, and another person died on the way to hospital, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police saidReuters reported on Tuesday.

— Darian Quist, a Grade 12 student of the school said the alarm went off shortly after he arrived at his class. He told CBC Radio West that when he realized it was not a drill, he and his classmates quickly pushed tables against the doors to barricade themselves inside.
Quist said they remained locked inside the classroom for nearly two hours. During that time, some students began circulating what he described as “disturbing” images from other parts of the school, showing blood and scenes of what was unfolding, mentioned a report by CNN.
– The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) soon issued a “shelter in place” warning, telling Tumbler Ridge residents to lock their doors and stay inside until further instruction. The RCMP said a suspect had been found dead, but that its officers were working to determine whether a second suspect was involved.
