CBI interrogated Anil Ambani for 8 hours in bank fraud case, called him again the next day

CBI on Thursday interrogated industrialist Anil Ambani for a long time in the bank fraud case of Rs 2929 crore. He was called to Delhi CBI headquarters, where questions and answers were asked for about 8 hours. The investigating agency has asked him to appear again on Friday, which clearly shows that the investigation of the case is still going on and more information is being collected on many aspects.

This case was registered on August 21, 2025, which is based on the complaint of State Bank of India. SBI was the lead bank of this loan consortium, in which many other government banks were also included.

Allegation- The company misused the loan

It is alleged that between 2013 and 2017, Reliance Communication Limited misused loans taken from banks and the money was diverted through complex transactions between companies. Due to this, SBI suffered a loss of around Rs 2929 crore, while the total loan exposure was said to be around Rs 19694 crore.

Other banks have also complained to CBI

During the investigation, CBI also received complaints from other banks, after which separate cases were registered in this matter. New cases also came to light on the complaint of Bank of Baroda in February 2026 and Punjab National Bank in March 2026. Anil Ambani, other officials of the company and some unknown people have been made accused in all these cases.

CBI raided Anil Ambani’s house

Earlier, in August 2025, CBI had also raided the offices of Reliance Communication and Anil Ambani’s house in Mumbai. From where many important documents were seized. Now the investigating agency is busy connecting the links of the entire case on the basis of these documents and inquiries. The investigation of the case is still going on.
