Census 2027: Be prepared for these 33 questions, if the government asks in the census, you will have to tell!

The Government of India is now fully prepared for the census of the country. Its first phase is starting from April 1, 2026, in which the government will ask a total of 33 questions to the citizens of the country and on the basis of those answers, the population of the country will be decided. This will be the first such census in Indian history, which will be completely digital and through which the government will also try to understand the nature of relationships within the households of India.

The Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India is Mrityunjay Kumar Narayan. He has given detailed information about the upcoming census of India in a press conference. According to Mrityunjay Kumar Narayan, the country’s census will be conducted in two phases. The first phase will start from April 1 and will continue till September 30. In this also, in the first 15 days, people will have the opportunity to fill their information on the portal themselves. A proper app has also been made for this, which is available for both iOS and Android users. Information can be filled in this app in a total of 16 languages. The data uploaded on the app will be kept completely confidential and its information cannot be obtained even through RTI.

If no one is able to provide information online in the first 15 days, then after 30 days the enumeration staff will go door-to-door to collect data of those people who have not entered their information themselves. Counting of houses is to be done in the first phase. The second phase will start in February 2027, in which people will be counted. About 30 lakh people have been employed for this entire work, for which a budget of Rs 11,718 crore has been set by the government.

This will be the first time that the census will be digital and people in live-in relationships will also be considered married. Besides, caste data will also be collected in this census and for all this, a total of 33 questions have been prepared by the government, which you will have to answer. The 33 questions that you will be asked and which need to be answered are:

3. Major materials used in house flooring. That means the floor is cement, granite, marble.
4. Material used in the wall of the house
5. Materials used in roofing of house
6. Use of house
7. Condition of the house
8. Family Number
9. Number of family members
10. Name of the head of the family
11. Gender of the head of the family
12. Caste, General, Scheduled Caste, Tribe, OBC.
13. House ownership status
14. Number of rooms in the house
15. Number of married couples
16. Source of drinking water
17. Availability of drinking water
18. Source of electricity
19. Availability of toilets
20. Type of toilet
21. Drainage of dirty water
22. Bathroom availability
23. Gas connection
24. Main fuel for cooking
25. Radio or transistor
26. TV
27. Internet facility
28. Laptop or computer
29. Telephone, mobile, smart phone
30. Bicycle, Scooter, Motorcycle
31. Car, jeep, van
32. Main grains
33. Mobile number

Rest of the census is starting from April 1 and different dates have been fixed for the census of each state. The census will start from a total of 8 states. That means counting will start from April 1, 2026 in Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Goa, Karnataka, Lakshadweep, Mizoram, Odisha and Sikkim. Counting will start in Gujarat, Dadra and Nagar Haveli as well as Daman and Diu from April 5. Counting will take place in Uttarakhand from April 10. Counting of Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh and Haryana will start from April 16.

Census will start from 16 April in Bihar, 26 April in Telangana, 30 April in Punjab, 1 May in Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Rajasthan and Jharkhand, 7 May in Uttar Pradesh, 17 May in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh-Puducherry, 1 June in Himachal Pradesh, 16 June in Kerala and Nagaland, 17 July in Tamil Nadu and Tripura, 2 August in Assam and 17 August in Manipur. West Bengal is the only state in the country where the date of census has not been decided. So the people of West Bengal will have to wait for their counting for now. But if you are not a resident of West Bengal, then keep the answers to 33 questions of the government ready. Either answer on the portal yourself or wait for the census officer to come to your home.
