Donald Trump administration in America has started a new trade investigation against 16 major trading partner countries including India, China and Bangladesh. This investigation is being conducted under Section 301 of the Trade Act 1974. Under this law, America has the right to increase the tariff i.e. import duty on any country. This step has been taken at a time when recently the US Supreme Court had canceled the tariffs imposed by the Trump administration, calling them illegal. Congress has reacted to the decision of new investigation by the US administration.
Congress posted on social media platform X (Twitter) and wrote that Modi’s surrender to Trump is costing the country heavily. In another tweet, Congress wrote that Narendra Modi has given a double dose of inflation. First the price of LPG increased – now the price of edible oil is also skyrocketing. Congress said that mustard and refined oil has become costlier by Rs 30 per litre. He further wrote that inflation man Modi is wreaking havoc on the public.
Let us tell you that America had imposed 25 percent tariff on India. Apart from this, due to purchasing oil from Russia, additional 25 percent tariff was imposed, which overall became 50 percent. However, after the US-India trade deal, the 50 percent tariff was reduced to 18 percent. However, meanwhile America issued a statement saying that we will impose 18 percent tariff on India, but we will not pay any kind of tax to India. After this incident, the opposition party is continuously trying to corner BJP. At present, there is a huge shortage of oil and gas due to the ongoing war in the Middle East. Modi government is continuously on target regarding this also.

Donald Trump’s statement
The country’s opposition parties allege that the Indian government has bowed down to America. PM Modi is doing exactly what US President Donald Trump is telling him. Recently America has given India permission to buy oil from Russia for 30 days. Donald Trump himself had announced this through social media. At the same time, an Iranian ship was targeted by America in the Indian Ocean, in which more than 100 Iranian Navy soldiers were killed. The surprising thing was that this was the same IRIS Dena ship, which had come on the invitation of India and was returning back to its country. However, the American submarine attacked and destroyed it near Sri Lanka. Even on this issue the Indian government did not give a direct answer to America.
