Regarding the upcoming assembly elections in Assam, the Central Election Committee of Congress has released the second list of candidates on Saturday (March 14, 2026) at around 10:30 pm. In this list, the Congress party has released the names of a total of 23 people, while the party has given 15 seats in the list to its allies.
According to the list, the Congress party has fielded Karthik Chandra Rai from Golakganj assembly seat, Amrit Badshah from Bilasipara, Wajid Ali Choudhary from Birsing Jarua, Mohibur Rahman from Mankachar, Abul Kalam Rashid Alam from Goalpara East, Kishore Kumar Brahma from Dudhnai on reserved seat for ST, Nurul Islam from Srijangram, Abdul Khaliq from Mandia, Rakibuddin Ahmed from Chamaria, Pranjit Chaudhary has appointed Kishore Kumar Barua as the candidate for the SC reserved seat of Dimoria.
Apart from this, Shantanu Bora from New Guwahati, Mrs. Rijumoni Talukdar from Mangaldai, Mrs. Jhambha Chaudhary from Hojai, Batas Urang from Dhekiajuli, Kartik Chandra Kurmi from Rangapara, Dr. Shankar Jyoti Kutum from Gohpur, Sailen Sonowal from ST reserved seat of Dhemji, David Phukan from Tinsukia, Bipul Gogoi from Tingkhong, Mrs. Sagorika from Dergaon. Dhruvjyoti Purkayastha has been made the candidate from SC reserved seat of Bora, Dholai and Aminur Rashid Choudhary from Karimganj South.
Which 15 seats did Congress give to its allies?
Apart from appointing candidates for 23 assembly seats in Assam, the Congress party has divided 15 assembly seats among its allies. According to the list, the Congress party will appoint candidates of its allies on Bhawanipur-Shorbhog, Bajali, Palasbari, Guwahati Central, Goreshwar, Morigaon, Berhampur, Binakandi, SC reserved seat of Behali, Sadiya, Dibrugarh, Khowang, Sarupatthar, ST reserved seat of Dipu and ST reserved seat of Amri.
A lot of politics is happening before the Assam elections
Assembly elections are going to be held in the north-eastern state of Assam in the next few days. Regarding this, Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and many other national and regional parties are continuously fighting to make their politics shine in the state. The Congress Party had announced the names of 42 candidates in the first list for the upcoming assembly elections in Assam. Thus, names of a total of 65 candidates have been announced so far.
