Congress worker poured petrol on himself when he did not get ticket in Telangana, threatened to commit suicide

Just before the end of the nomination process for municipal corporation elections in Suryapet district of Telangana, the dispute over ticket distribution took a frightening turn. On Tuesday, in front of the District Congress office, a worker poured petrol on his body and threatened to commit suicide, which spread a sensation in the entire area. This incident happened when Congress worker Kodi Shiva, who was hoping for a ticket from the 25th ward, was rejected by the party even on the last day of nomination.

Angry over not getting ticket, threatened to commit suicide

People present at the spot said that Kodi Shiva has been loyal to the party for a long time and was confident that this time he will get the ticket from the 25th ward. However, when the final list was released and his name was not included in it, he lost control. To express their displeasure and disappointment, they started a dharna in front of the District Congress office. During the conversation, he suddenly poured petrol on himself and said in a loud voice that if he was not given a ticket, he would commit suicide by setting himself on fire.

Big leaders explained to Shiva

Seeing this scene, there was panic among the party workers and officials gathered there. Police and local leaders immediately intervened and tried to pacify Shiva and prevented any major incident from happening. In fact, there is a lot of tension within the parties in the state regarding the race for tickets in the municipal elections. Such cases are coming to light at many places where angry workers are protesting due to not getting tickets, but this case of Suryapet is quite serious.

This incident reflects the mental anguish of those workers in political parties who become extremely sad and dejected when they do not get tickets even after years of hard work. Taking cognizance of the matter, the police have taken the worker into safe custody and further legal action is being taken.
