Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday (January 23, 2026) attacked the Tamil Nadu government and said that Tamil Nadu wants freedom from the misrule of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). DMK made a lot of promises but there was zero work. He said that the DMK government is a government that promotes CMC-corruption, mafia and crime. He said these things while addressing a public meeting in Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu.
PM Modi said that Tamil Nadu wants change. See, senior NDA leaders have gathered on the stage to decide the future of the state. He said that there is only one resolution that we have to get rid of DMK. Tamil Nadu has to be made a corruption free state. The countdown for DMK’s exit has started.
‘DMK-CMC has to be uprooted from Tamil Nadu’, said PM Modi
PM Modi said that the public is ready to uproot this DMK-CMC, it is certain that a double engine government of BJP-NDA will be formed here. He said, ‘Today there is a government in Tamil Nadu which has nothing to do with democracy or accountability. DMK is engaged in the welfare of only one family. If anyone wants to move ahead in DMK, he will have to take the dynasty route, corruption, abuse women, abuse culture route. The Prime Minister said that today only those people are moving forward, who know such things, and the entire Tamil Nadu is being harmed due to this. Every child knows where corruption is taking place and in whose pockets it is going.
Count the works of 11 years of NDA government
Referring to the work of the NDA government in 11 years, PM Modi said, ‘Before 2014, there was a coalition government of DMK and Congress, very little funds were given for the development of Tamil Nadu. The central government has given Rs 3 lakh crore. In the NDA government, he has been given three times more than what he used to do when he was in the central government. Crores of rupees have been provided for the welfare of Tamil Nadu. During the alliance rule of DMK and Congress, scams used to take place in the name of welfare of poor SC, ST, OBC.
‘NDA government is supporting farmers and fishermen on every front’, said PM Modi
Prime Minister Modi said, ‘Let me give you the example of railway budget, NDA is giving 7 percent more budget than the UPA government. Here the NDA government has also run modern trains like Vande Bharat. He described the fishermen and farmers of Tamil Nadu as the strength of the state. He said that NDA is supporting farmers and fishermen on every front.
PM told that earlier farmers used to have very few bank accounts, NDA opened accounts and under PM Nidhi Yojana, Rs. 4 lakh crores were sent to the accounts across the country, whereas, Rs. 12,700 crores have been sent to Tamil Nadu. Under this, fishermen have been given deep fishing vessels and credit cards.
He said that the NDA government is linking farmers and fishermen with cooperatives. There is more potential for food processing in Tamil Nadu, their produce can reach the world market. PM Narendra Modi said that youth power and women power have a big role in making Tamil Nadu developed, but DMK is pushing the youth towards drugs. Parents are seeing it being destroyed before their eyes.
Drug and liquor mafia is flourishing under DMK rule, PM said
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the drug mafia is targeting schools and colleges in Tamil Nadu. The whole of Tamil Nadu knows the truth of DMK. There are allegations of DMK being associated with the drug mafia. Our youth have to be saved from the clutches of drugs. Your one vote will free the drug mafia.
PM Modi said, ‘NDA will transform the health care system of Tamil Nadu. I am happy that Mudra loans have been given to the youth and backward people here under the Mudra Scheme of NDA. Today India is becoming the choice of investors all over the world. A double engine government of NDA is necessary here. It will be easy for investors to invest money here.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, ‘This year is my first visit to Tamil Nadu. This is the time when the whole of Tamil Nadu is in a different joy after Pongal. A few days ago, former Chief Minister M.G. Ramachandran’s birth anniversary was also celebrated. I salute you all from the land of Ari Katramar.
Tribute to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose
PM Modi said that today is also the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. The country celebrates today as Bravery Day. Many freedom fighters have fought with Netaji. From this holy land I bow to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Babu.
He said that Tamil Nadu is the land which took India forward with its Sangam Kalim history. Today, when India is moving forward to develop, Tamil Nadu has a big role to play. We have to free Tamil Nadu from the chains of DMK.
DMK accused of being the biggest enemy of Tamil culture
Prime Minister Modi said, ‘We not only talk about Tamil culture, but also work with determination to protect it. A few days ago, when controversy arose regarding the lamp of Lord Murugan, our leaders raised their voice for the devotees. They (DMK) even defamed the court to please the vote bank. If anyone is the biggest enemy of Tamil culture, it is DMK.
What did PM Modi say on Jallikattu ban?
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that DMK and Congress had also banned Jallikattu. You all were insulted. This is the NDA government, which respected the legacy of Jallikattu by finding legal avenues for it. He told the people of Tamil Nadu that NDA is with you in every way. Tamil Nadu needs a government that will work shoulder to shoulder with the Centre. Tamil Nadu has to be developed. India has to be developed.
