Cricket world stirred by ‘fixing’ before IPL 2026, ICC suspends former KKR player

Before the start of IPL 2026, there has been a stir in the cricket world due to ‘fixing’. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has accused West Indies all-rounder Javon Searles, who played for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), of multiple violations of anti-corruption rules. This list also includes two more members in the form of team officials Chitranjan Rathod and Trayvon Griffith.

The ICC release said that all three people face charges related to the Bim 10 tournament 2023/24, which fall under the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Anti-Corruption Code. Additionally, Griffith faces a charge related to international matches, which falls under the ICC Anti-Corruption Code.

It was further said that Titans team owner Rathod faces three charges under the Cricket West Indies Code, while Sarls faces four charges under the West Indies Cricket Code. Team official Griffith faces four charges under the West Indies Cricket Code and one charge under the ICC Code.

All three suspended with immediate effect

It was told in the release that all three have been temporarily suspended from all forms of cricket with immediate effect and they will have to answer the charges within 14 days from March 11, 2026.

Breach of Article 2.1.1 of the Cricket West Indies Code: Improperly influence the outcome, progress, conduct or any other aspect of the matches of the BIM10 tournament in 2023/24, or be a party to, or attempt to do so, any agreement or attempt to do so.

Breach of Article 2.1.4 of the Cricket West Indies Code: Inciting, instructing, encouraging or facilitating players or sports staff to commit an offense under the Cricket West Indies Code.

Breach of Article 2.4.4 of the Cricket West Indies Code: Failing or refusing to co-operate with a proper investigation conducted by a designated anti-corruption officer (or his or her nominee) in relation to potential offenses under the Cricket West Indies Code.

Apart from this, two more charges have been leveled against Trayvon Griffith, one of which also includes violation of the ICC Code of Conduct.
