Crisis on film ‘Dhurandhar 2’ increases, association raises voice regarding security violation

Once again a big question has arisen regarding security in the Mumbai film industry. The issue of negligence during the shooting of the film ‘Dhurandhar 2’ has gained momentum. On this entire issue, All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has clearly said that the lives of workers cannot be compromised at any cost.

The association has supported action against director Aditya Dhar and his production company B62 Studios. The association has termed the steps taken by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in this matter as a decision taken in the right direction.

Safety rules ignored

AICWA President Suresh Shyamlal Gupta said that the technicians, laborers and workers working in the film industry are its backbone. There should be no compromise with their safety, honor and life. No production house is above the law, no matter how big it is. According to the association, safety rules were ignored many times during the shooting of ‘Dhurandhar 2’. Burning torches were used in the high-security area. Some locations were changed without permission. Use of gas cylinder and generator van was also said to be against the rules.

Association demanded monitoring

AICWA says that this is not the first incident. For the last several years, there have been complaints of ignoring safety rules on shooting sets. Incidents like fire, electrocution, falling from height have already happened in Goregaon Film City and other studios. Many workers have been injured in these accidents and some have even lost their lives.

The association had earlier also demanded strict monitoring from the state government and BMC officials. If timely steps were taken, such cases would not have come up again. The association has termed BMC’s recommendation to blacklist B62 Studios and proposal of fine in the ‘Dhurandhar 2’ case as a strong step, which can prove to be a warning to other production houses.
