According to British media reports, as soon as the issue of making obscene images with Grok AI came to light, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer took a tough stance on it. He asked the country’s media regulator Office of Communications (Ofcom) to consider all possible options in this matter. Reports have also revealed that the Prime Minister himself contacted X and warned the platform to immediately remove the obscene content. He clearly said that this kind of material is not acceptable under any circumstances and if necessary, the government will not shy away from taking strict action.
This warning has come at a time when thousands of fake and objectionable pictures of women in scanty clothes were created using X’s AI chatbot Grok. This not only created an uproar on social media, but also raised serious concerns about online safety. According to the Telegraph report, sources associated with 10 Downing Street say that Britain’s Online Safety Act gives great power to the regulator. Under this, huge fines of billions of pounds can be imposed and as the most stringent step, X can be completely blocked in Britain.
