Dangerous trap of ChiChi Call! Ghost File scam spreading in the name of viral video, social media users should be careful

Online Scam: These days, posts like ChiChi Call viral video are spreading rapidly on social media. If links related to leaked video calls or any alleged scandal appear in your feed, then clicking without thinking can prove costly. According to cyber experts, this entire matter is part of a well-planned online fraud which is being called Ghost File Scam.

Who was targeted?

The name of Filipino lifestyle and travel influencer Vera Hill, known online as ChiChi, is being added to this trend. It is being claimed that some of his personal videos have been leaked. However, no such original video exists on any reliable source.

Analysts say that the clips circulating on TikTok, Facebook, Telegram and Reddit are either edited or someone else’s video is presented in a misleading manner.

This game has happened before too

According to reports, the same gang has previously run a similar ghost file scam with another name using false tags like Pinay Gold Medalist. That means this is not a new method but a changed form of an old fraud.

How does Ghost File Scam work?

This fraud is based on SEO poisoning technique. Scammers fill internet search results with blogs and pages that contain keywords like ChiChi Video Call Full. As soon as a user clicks on the link, he is sent to a fake streaming page. From here the real game begins, the user’s IP address can be captured immediately.

Fake Facebook age verification login page may open. You may be redirected to a phishing site that steals login details. To watch the video, a message appears asking to install a plugin, which is actually malware. This malware can do key-logging which can put sensitive information like banking passwords at risk.

Recognize danger signs

If after clicking on a link, different websites are opening again and again, or if the login page suddenly appears, then be alert. Ignore messages like install plugin. Do not download any unknown extensions.

Legal risks are also not less

In India, creating and spreading private or deepfake content without consent is a legal offense. This can be punishable under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Sharing such alleged viral videos, whether real or fake, can land you in legal trouble.

What to do?

Avoid clicking on any such sensational links. Verify information from a trusted source and avoid pushing misleading content. Remember, not every viral thing is true, sometimes it is just a digital hoax.
