According to Cricbuzz, Jemimah Rodrigues’ name is certain to be confirmed for the captaincy of Delhi Capitals team in WPL 2026. Let us tell you that the fourth edition of the Women’s Premier League is going to start from January 8, 2026.

According to Cricbuzz, the official announcement of Jemimah Rodrigues being made the captain of Delhi Capitals is possible on Tuesday, 23 December. Till now Meg Lanning had been captaining the Delhi team, but before the mega auction, the Delhi team had released her. Delhi has reached the WPL finals thrice so far, but had to face defeat every time.

After the WPL 2026 auction, Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal had clearly said that he wants an Indian captain and has also made up his mind in the same direction.

Jemimah Rodrigues has so far scored 507 runs in her WPL career while playing 27 matches and her average has been 28.16. In the ODI World Cup 2025, he played an important role in making Team India the world champion by performing strongly with the bat.

Before the auction, Delhi Capitals had retained a total of 5 players. Jemimah Rodrigues, Shefali Verma, Marijne Kapp and Annabel Sutherland were retained by Delhi for Rs 2.22 crore. Whereas uncapped player Nikki Prasad was retained by DC for Rs 50 lakh.
