‘Don’t consider New Delhi as Kolkata…’, BJP counters on TMC MPs’ protest after ED raid

Bharatiya Janata Party has launched a scathing attack on the protest by Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs outside the office of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. BJP leader Anirban Ganguly said that there is a big difference between New Delhi and Kolkata. He said that there are fixed rules and regulations for protests in Delhi, which need to be followed.

‘New Delhi is not Kolkata’

Anirban Ganguly told IANS that New Delhi is not Kolkata. There are designated places for demonstrations and it is mandatory to inform the administration in advance. Demonstration without permission causes problems to the general public. In such a situation, removing the protesters was completely the right step.

Ganguly alleged that the situation is completely opposite in West Bengal, where BJP has to resort to court even for peaceful demonstration or public meeting.

He claimed that BJP had to go to court there 120 times, yet permission was not given many times. According to him, the democratic law and order in Bengal has completely collapsed. The police do not work impartially and political parties are not even given the freedom to protest.

Anirban Ganguly also raised questions on Mamata Banerjee’s statements regarding ED action. He said that perhaps he is the only Chief Minister in the country whose name is repeatedly associated with controversies and such statements.

‘ED is investigating on the instructions of the court’

ED is investigating on the directions of the court and is taking action against a private organization under the law. In such a situation, it is a big question that why does the Chief Minister, sitting on a constitutional post, want to interfere in the investigation process and why does she seem so desperate to save a private institution. At the same time, the BJP leader also expressed serious concern over the death threat received by West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose.

He said that under the patronage of the TMC government in Bengal, the emboldened elements who are anti-national and a threat to national security have increased. This is not an isolated incident, but part of a complete process. He claimed that Bangladeshi infiltrators, Rohingyas and terrorist sleeper cells are feeling safe in Bengal and in this environment the Governor has been threatened.
