DU On Rahul Gandhi: Delhi University strongly objected to Rahul Gandhi’s comment, said- ‘Before giving statement…’

Delhi University (DU) has expressed strong objection to a statement by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. The university has said that the things said regarding the admission of students and recruitment of teachers are not based on true facts. The university says that it is important to get correct information about the facts before making a public statement.

Delhi University clarified in an official statement that admission of students into the university is done mainly on the basis of Common University Entrance Test (CUET) marks. According to the university, as part of the normal admission process, interviews are not mandatory for most undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Therefore, it is not correct to say that students are excluded on the basis of interview.

The university also said that if Rahul Gandhi’s statement was related to recruitment on teachers or other posts then it is also not correct. According to Delhi University, thousands of teachers have been recruited in various categories in recent years. In these recruitments, all sections have been given opportunities and the entire process is done as per the set rules and standards. Delhi University says that such statements can affect the environment of the university. The institute believes that statements made without complete information may create misunderstandings among students, teachers and staff. Therefore, it is important to check the facts before commenting about any big educational institution.

What did Rahul Gandhi say?

Recently, in a program of Kanshi Ram Jayanti, Rahul Gandhi, while mentioning Delhi University, had said that he went there and saw that students are taken out through interview. He also alleged that students are failed in interviews on the basis of caste. Rahul Gandhi said that if the list of RSS and its associated organizations is brought out, then people from OBC or SC category will not be found there and it is against the spirit of the Constitution. After this statement of Rahul Gandhi, Delhi University immediately responded and clarified its position and said that the admission and recruitment process of the university is transparent and as per the rules.
