On Sunday (March 15), Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar announced the election dates. Two phases, 17.4 crore voters for 824 seats will decide who will take the reins of power in the election states. Elections in Bengal in two phases after two decades

This time voting will take place in only two phases in West Bengal. Earlier, in the assembly elections held in the state in 2021, voting was held in 8 phases. It has the maximum number of 294 seats among the five electoral states. To achieve majority, 148 seats will be required. This time voting will be held in two phases. In the first phase, voting will be held on 152 seats on April 23, while in the second phase, voting will be held on 142 seats on April 29. The results will be announced together on May 4. This is the first time in almost two decades that voting will be held here in two phases.

17.4 crore voters will decide on 824 seats

The Chief Election Commissioner told during the press conference that elections in India are the festival of democracy. In the five states where elections are being held, voting will be held on 824 seats. Here 17.4 crore voters will decide. Guests will come from more than 20 countries to watch the elections

Election after SIR

Voting percentage will be uploaded every two hours

Presiding Officers deployed at all polling stations will upload the voting percentage every two hours and the voting data will be uploaded immediately after the election is over.

Voting will be held at 2.19 lakh polling booths

Chief Election Commissioner said that votes will be cast at 2.19 lakh polling stations in four states and one union territory. 25 lakh election officers will be deployed here. The average number of voters per polling station in Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal is 750-900.

You will not be able to take mobile phones inside the polling station.

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said that mobile phones will not be allowed inside the polling station and will have to be kept outside the polling station. After casting their vote, voters will be able to take back their mobile.

Where how many seats?

There are a total of 234 assembly seats in Tamil Nadu, where DMK leader M.K. Stalin is CM since May 7, 2021. There are a total of 294 assembly seats in West Bengal, where TMC leader Mamata Banerjee has been in power since 2011. There are a total of 140 assembly seats in Kerala, where Left leader Pinarayi Vijayan has been the CM since 2016 and leads the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government. There are 126 seats in Assam, Himanta Vishwa Sharma is the Chief Minister from 2021. Puducherry Chief Minister N. Rangasamy is in power since 2021. There are a total of 33 seats in the Union Territory, which include three members nominated by the Centre.
