Just a few days ago, news came that the number of active Apple devices worldwide has crossed 2.5 billion. Now another report has revealed that every fourth active phone in the world is an iPhone. This means that out of all the active mobile phones in the world, 25 percent are iPhones alone. This shows that despite the decline in smartphone shipments, Apple’s dominance remains. Let us know about this in detail.
Active installed base will increase in 2025
According to the report of Counterpoint Research, the global installed base of active smartphones is expected to increase by 2 percent in 2025. Installed base refers to active smartphones and is a metric that takes into account user loyalty, ecosystem stickiness and extended replenishment cycles. In 2025, the replacement cycle has reached almost 4 years.
Apple and Samsung at the forefront
According to the report, Apple and Samsung are at the forefront in this matter. The number of active devices of both the companies has crossed 1 billion. Apart from these, no other company has been able to reach this figure. If both the companies are combined, they would have 44 percent active installed base in 2025. Samsung ranks second in global installed base and every fifth phone in the world is from Samsung. That means about 20 percent of active mobiles are from Samsung. After these come Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo, whose number of active devices has crossed 20 crore each.
Apple’s point is different from all others
There has been a tremendous increase in Apple’s active base last year. In 2025, the company has added more new active iPhone users than the total number of new mobile phones of the other seven companies combined. A senior analyst at Counterpoint said that the reason for this growth is strong user loyalty, deep iOS ecosystem and tightly integrated services.
