With Team India winning the 2026 T20 World Cup title, one thing became clear that Gautam Gambhir’s coaching in white ball cricket has proved suitable for the Men in Blue. After Team India won the T20 World Cup, MS Dhoni made a post through social media and made special mention of the smile of coach Saheb i.e. Gambhir.
Now Gambhir told about Dhoni’s post. Apart from this he told why he does not laugh during the match. Dhoni had written in his post, “Coach sir, your smile looks good. The combination of smile and seriousness is wonderful.”
What did Gambhir say on Dhoni’s post?
Speaking in an interview with ANI, Gautam Gambhir said, “Being a coach is also difficult. It’s good to see that he tweeted. I think when you are in the dugout, there is a lot at stake. There are so many expectations from the Indian team that even if you want to laugh… who wouldn’t want to laugh. You are not able to laugh at times, especially when you play a tournament like the World Cup.”

Defeat is not an option in India
Gambhir further said, “Unfortunately in India, losing is not an option. But defeat can happen. If defeat was not an option, India would have won all the World Cups, but it did not happen. This is a game. You invest your whole life in something, but there is no guarantee of returns. This is not a stock market that if you invest, how much return will you get. Here you work hard for the whole year and a half, invest. But there was no guarantee that we will win this World Cup.”
Gambhir further said, “Imagine, if we had not won the World Cup or lost in the semi-finals, then after so much hard work and so much investment, the return would have been zero. That is why I say that sport is very different from other professions.”
