If you want to change your email address without creating a new account, then there is good news for you. Google is about to introduce a new feature, after which users will be able to change the “@gmail.com” email address. According to the Google support page, the company is gradually rolling out this process, in which users will be able to change their email address even without creating a new Gmail account. Till now Google did not allow this, but now users will be able to update their old username or select a new username as per their wish.
What will change in the new feature?
Till now Gmail address was seen as a permanent digital identity, but now it will be easy to change it. After the arrival of Google’s new feature, users will be able to modify their Gmail address. This will give the user an opportunity to update their old username and they will not need to create a new account. Till now Google used to give the option to change email only to the users who signed up with a third-party email address, but now this option is going to come for all the users. Right now this option is live for only a few users and the rest of the users may have to wait for a while for it.
There will be no effect on Gmail account
Updating your email address will not affect your Gmail account. Google will consider both the new and old addresses as the same. That means you will be able to sign in to Google services with both new and old username. Similarly, emails will keep coming on both the accounts. Also, messages, photos, videos or other files received on the old email address will not be affected. Google says that users will be able to update their email address a total of three times.
