Amidst the worsening situation in West Asia and the Iran-America war, air connectivity between India and Saudi Arabia has once again been restored on Thursday (March 12, 2026). Indian aviation companies have restarted flights to Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
A total of three flights were operated by Indian aviation companies on the first day of resumption of air services. Of these, two flights were operated by Air India and Indigo Airlines for Mumbai, while the third flight was operated by Air India Express for Calicut. With these flights, the medium to and fro travel between India and Saudi Arabia has once again been established.
How many passengers returned to India from Gulf countries in the last 12 days?
According to the data of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the total number of passengers returning to India from Gulf countries in the last 12 days from February 28, 2026 to March 11, 2026 was 1,50,457. Whereas on Thursday (March 12, 2026), a total of 57 inbound flights have been scheduled for India from many cities of West Asia – Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Fujairah, Jeddah, Muscat, Ras Al Khaimah, Riyadh and Sharjah.
Ministry gave statement regarding air fares
Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation Ministry has made it clear that amidst the tension in the Middle East, the fares for air flights are also being closely monitored. So that air ticket prices remain reasonable and passengers do not have to face hassles and inflation without any reason.
Rent may increase due to these reasons
The supply of crude oil has been badly affected due to the war between Iran-Israel and America and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz by Iran. Due to which the prices of jet fuel may also increase.
It is noteworthy that jet fuel accounts for 30 to 40 percent of the total operating expenses of airlines. Apart from this, about 10 to 12 countries of the world have closed their airspace, due to which planes are using longer routes to reach their destination.
