What decision did the Supreme Court of America give?

The US Supreme Court on Friday declared Trump’s tariffs illegal. There were six judges in favor of this decision, while three were against it. It says that the Trump administration has used the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) enacted in 1977, as well as misused its powers by imposing heavy import tariffs.

This decision has been given by America’s Chief Justice John Roberts along with Justice Neil Gorsuch, Amy Coney Barrett and three liberal judges. It says that IEEPA does not allow the President to impose tariffs. This power has been constitutionally given to Congress.

Trump criticized the decision of the US Supreme Court

The decision of the Supreme Court has been criticized by the US President. He has said that this is a very bad decision. Apart from this, Trump has announced to impose 10 percent global tariff under Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974. It allows temporary import surcharge for up to 150 days.
