Yashkumarsinh Gohil, nephew of senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Shaktisinh Gohil, after shooting dead his wife Rajeshwari, committed suicide by shooting himself. Police have clarified that this incident is not an accident, but a case of suicide after a planned murder. This incident took place on the night of Wednesday (January 21, 2026) at the couple’s residence in Bodakdev area of ​​Ahmedabad. Initially it was declared an accident, but now the FIR registered and forensic investigation has changed the picture of the entire matter.
According to the PTI report, immediately after the incident, the police had said that Yashkumar Singh accidentally fired, in which his wife died and after that he committed suicide. However, when the police closely investigated the incident site, conducted technical examination of the weapon and studied the forensic report, it became clear that the firing could not have been accidental. In the new FIR registered at Vastrapur police station, this entire case has been described as intentional murder. According to the police, the manner of firing, direction of the bullet and condition of the weapon clearly point towards a deliberate crime.
Important facts revealed in forensic investigation
Police investigation has revealed that Rajeshwari was shot from behind, which directly hit her head. The revolver that was used was the licensed revolver of Yash Kumar Singh. There were only two bullets in the revolver and both the bullets were used. The investigation also found that there were no signs of any negligence or technical fault with the weapon. Pulling the trigger required special force and the right angle, making it clear that the firing was intentional.
Call for ambulance after wife’s death
According to the FIR, after shooting his wife, Yash Kumar Singh called 108 ambulance service. By the time the medical team reached the spot, Rajeshwari had died. Shortly thereafter, Yash Kumar Singh committed suicide by shooting himself in the head in the same room. Police believe that this entire incident could be related to severe mental pressure, family tension or marital dispute, although this can be confirmed only after the investigation is completed.
