In the press conference held on Friday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal has said that the Indian government is keeping an eye on the situation in Iran. 9 thousand of our citizens live in Iran. These include studying children, devotees and businessmen. Advisory has been issued regarding everyone.
He said that people should not go to Iran and if they want to come from there, then arrangements are being made for that too. Commercial flight options are also available for Indian citizens planning to leave Iran. We have a long-standing deep relationship and partnership with Iran. We are keeping an eye on the changing situation.
What did you say about America’s 25% tariff order on countries doing business with Iran?
Besides, the Ministry of External Affairs also expressed its views on the 25% tariff imposed by the US President on countries doing business with Iran. Jaiswal said, ‘We are closely monitoring the developments. Our bilateral trade is $1.6 billion. Our exports are $1.2 billion and imports are $0.4 billion. Discussions are going on between both the parties.
What did you say on Chabahar Port dispute?
On the Chabahar Port dispute, he said that on October 28, 2025, the US Treasury Department had issued a letter giving guidance on conditional sanction waiver valid till April 26, 2026. We are in talks with the American side to work out its arrangements. We have learned that plans are being made to make a film starring Salman Khan. The concerned authorities are keeping an eye on the matters related to film production in India. The Ministry of External Affairs has no role in such projects. Also India, Japan have discussed supply chain flexibility.
India reiterates its stand on Shaksgam Valley
On Shaksgam Valley, the Ministry of External Affairs said that India reiterated its stand on Shaksgam Valley. Shaksgam Valley is Indian territory. We have never recognized the so-called China-Pakistan border agreement signed in 1963. We have consistently said that this agreement is illegal and invalid. We also do not recognize the so-called China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, which passes through Indian territory forcibly and illegally occupied by Pakistan.
