Veteran actress Mumtaz does not need any identity. At one time, Hasina ruled hundreds of hearts with her style and gave many hit films. Mumtaz worked with many veteran actors on screen, one of whom is late actor Dharmendra. In the year 2023, Mumtaz and Dharmendra were seen in the singing reality show ‘Indian Idol 13’ after almost 50 years. Regarding this, veteran actress Hasina has revealed that she had taken a fee of Rs 18 to 20 lakh for this show.
In a recent interview given to Vicky Lalwani, Mumtaz has told that she does not compromise on her fees. The actress said- ,Even today I am called on TV. When I came on TV with Dharam ji for the first time and danced with him on stage, that was my only TV appearance and till now he has contacted me more than a hundred times and I have told him my fees. He said that people do this work for Rs 3-4 lakh.
‘I took Rs 18-20 lakh…’
Mumtaz told- ‘I told him that I cannot say anything about those people, it is their wish. They can do it for free also, but this is my fee. I have always been like this. I have told the television people a thousand times that this is my fee, I can reduce it by Rs 20-25 thousand, but not more than that. I did only one show, for which I took Rs 18-20 lakh. They said that they can’t pay me and I didn’t do that show, I don’t even want to do it. Throw the money, watch the show.
Was ‘Sita Aur Geeta’ rejected due to low fees?
During this, Mumtaz also told the reason for rejecting Ramesh Sippy’s film ‘Sita Aur Geeta’. Mumtaz said- ‘Not just the fees. But yes, this was also a reason. Ramesh Sippy Sahab was a big producer and director at that time, so he thought that I would do this film for Rs 2 lakh because he was a big producer. Every big producer has his own ego. But thankfully, I was already getting so many films that I didn’t think this film would do anything special for me. That’s why things didn’t work out between us. But you see, Hema Malini had done this film.
‘I have given more hit films than Hema Malini’
Did Mumtaz regret rejecting ‘Sita Aur Geeta’? On this question, the veteran actress said- ‘How many films were hits in Hema Malini’s career? More theirs or mine? Please make a list, I have given more hit films than him. I don’t want to exaggerate, God forgive me! But, because you asked this question, I had to answer. I would have loved to do a film on that subject, but I did not want to reduce my importance or level. If you do a film for someone else at a low fee, producers start raising questions.
