He said that it is important to understand Digvijay Singh’s statement in its correct context. It is unimaginable for him to say this. This could harm the interests of Congress or the country. Singh’s long association with the party and his ideological commitment should not be doubted.
What did Salman Khurshid say in defense of Digvijay?
Khurshid said, see, it is important to pay attention. Whose words are being used? What do they mean? In what context were they said? No one can even remotely think that whatever Digvijay Singh says will not be in the interest of the Congress Party or that he will speak in a way which will be against the party ideology. He is a pillar of the Congress Party. If they have used any particular language, it is important to understand. What was their context? What was their goal? What was he trying to do?
He said that Singh has used some words. They must be interpreted in the light of their intent and purpose. The main message of Singh’s statements was about strengthening both the country and the Congress party. He said that Digvijay Singh means that whatever we do, whatever steps we take, should be taken today for the strength of the country and for the strength of the Congress Party. This was his message. If people don’t understand this then how can they understand? If they can’t understand this much they won’t understand anything.
