Hearing on liquor policy begins in Delhi High Court, CBI challenges trial court’s decision


The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has challenged the lower court’s decision to acquit Arvind Kejriwal and other accused in the case related to Delhi’s liquor policy in the Delhi High Court. Hearing on this petition has started in the High Court on Monday (9 March 2026). During the hearing, Tushar Mehta, appearing on behalf of CBI, said in the court that this petition is against the decision of the lower court in which the accused were acquitted. He told the court that this case is a huge scam related to the country’s capital and according to him it is a matter of shame for the country.

Tushar Mehta argued that the case has been investigated scientifically and the investigating agency has revealed every aspect of the conspiracy in detail. He said that the entire conspiracy has been exposed from the evidence found during the investigation. Political and legal controversies have arisen in the past regarding Delhi’s new liquor policy. CBI had investigated this matter and later the matter reached the court. Now further hearing is going on in the High Court on the petition of CBI against the decision of acquittal of the lower court.
