Vande Bharat Express, the flagship of Indian Railways, was started in February 2019. The Railway Ministry has presented data regarding this. The ministry said that since its inception, about 7.5 crore people have traveled by Vande Bharat train.
The ministry said that today 164 modern train services of Vande Bharat Express train are connecting major cities of the country, which are giving fast, safe and comfortable travel experience to the passengers.
More than 7.5 crore passengers have traveled by train
The ministry said that the popularity of Vande Bharat Express can be gauged from the fact that since 2019, more than 7.5 crore passengers have traveled in this hi-tech train.
Vande Bharat is equipped with modern technology
Let us tell you that under the Make in India initiative, state-of-the-art technology has been used in Vande Bharat train sets manufactured in the country. These include features like automatic plug doors, rotating seats, bio-vacuum toilet, GPS based passenger information system and complete CCTV coverage.
Tourism and connectivity got a new dimension
Vande Bharat train has also been successful in taking tourism and regional connectivity to a new dimension. The services of Vande Bharat Express are benefiting the passengers as well as tourism. Connecting the cultural, spiritual and economic centers of the country at a fast pace, these trains are now operating in 274 districts.
Access to major pilgrimage sites becomes easier
Delhi-Varanasi Vande Bharat Express connects the national capital with India’s spiritual city Varanasi, providing a convenient travel option to devotees and tourists. Srinagar-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Vande Bharat Seva is making access to one of the major pilgrimage sites of the country easier. Let us remind you that this route was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 6 June 2025.
Apart from this, the route of Bengaluru-Hyderabad Vande Bharat Express is also popular among IT professionals and business train passengers. This train connects two big technology hubs of the country.
This journey, which started with just one Vande Bharat train in the year 2019, has today transformed into a huge network of 164 trains. These trains are serving lakhs of passengers every month. Apart from this, the Ministry has also said that Vande Bharat Sleeper Train is also ready to run on the tracks soon and in the coming time, Vande Bharat Sleeper Train is ready to bring a revolution in long distance night journeys.
