The team of Chennai Super Kings is going to be changed in IPL 2026. Wicketkeeper batsman Sanju Samson who has come into the team, is being seen as the successor of MS Dhoni in the CSK team. Ruturaj Gaikwad is handling the responsibility as captain, but after Dhoni, the burden of wicketkeeping is going to fall on the shoulders of Samson.
Chennai Super Kings had handed over a veteran all-rounder like Ravindra Jadeja and a world-class all-rounder like Sam Curran to Rajasthan Royals just to bring Samson into their squad. Samson’s CSK salary
Sanju Samson was given a salary of Rs 18 crore by Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025. Chennai Super Kings have traded Samson for the same amount of rupees, which means that he is going to get only Rs 18 crore in IPL 2026 for playing for Chennai Super Kings. Samson is one of the two players to whom CSK pays the highest salary. Apart from him, Ruturaj Gaikwad is the only other player who will get a salary of Rs 18 crore from Super Kings.
Even before the mini auction, CSK had retained MS Dhoni for Rs 4 crore by keeping him in the list of uncapped players.
Sanju Samson’s IPL career
Sanju Samson has played for only 2 teams in his IPL career so far. Chennai Super Kings will be his third team. He scored 677 runs in 28 matches for Delhi Capitals. He spent most of his IPL career playing for Rajasthan Royals. For RR, he scored 4,027 runs in 149 matches. In his IPL career so far, he has scored a total of 4,704 runs. During this period he has also scored 3 centuries and 26 fifties.
