A heart-wrenching incident has come to light in Bagalkot district of Karnataka on Saturday (December 20, 2025). A case of brutal beating of a mentally weak child has come to light in a residential school located in Navanagar area of the district. This school is run by an NGO, which takes care of blind and mentally challenged children.
It is alleged that a 16-year-old mentally challenged child studying in the same school was beaten badly by his teacher Akshay Indulkar and his wife Anandi. Akshay brutally hit the child with a pipe, while his wife Anandi is accused of spraying pepper spray in the child’s eyes. However, it is being told that this incident is three months old, but now after its video and pictures have surfaced, there is a stir in the entire district.
According to the information, most of the children in this school are blind, while some children are mentally weak. An employee present in the school at the time of the incident had recorded this video from his mobile. Later that employee was fired from the job. After this he handed over this video to the parents of the victim child.
Bagalkot SP gave information regarding the incident
After the video surfaced, the child’s family lodged a complaint with the police. Bagalkot SP Siddharth Goyal said, “Akshay Indulkar and his wife Anandi are the directors of this NGO. We have received the video, in which both are seen beating the child with a pipe and other objects. On the complaint of the victim’s parents, we have registered an FIR. Both the accused have been called to the police station for questioning. The investigation of the case is going on.”
At present, the police is confirming the authenticity of the video and the time of the incident. This incident has once again raised serious questions on the monitoring system of such institutions and the safety of children.
