The war of words within the Congress party has once again intensified. Senior party leader Mani Shankar Aiyar, who is in controversies, has given a statement on Rahul Gandhi and has also opened a front against many leaders of his own party. He has also targeted Congress media cell chief Pawan Kheda and Shashi Tharoor. Due to this, the factionalism going on within the party has once again been exposed. This may increase troubles for Congress in the upcoming elections.
What did Mani Shankar Aiyar say?
Mani Shankar Aiyar in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala said, ‘Dr. Ambedkar’s biography is A Part Apart. So, that’s all I can say. Rahul Gandhi has forgotten that I am a member of the party. So I am a Gandhian, I am a Nehruvian, I am a Rajivian but I am not a Rahulian.
Apart from this, Iyer said that if the INDIA block is strengthened, then I think the best person to strengthen it is MK Stalin. When Kamaraj was asked to become the PM of India after Jawaharlal Nehru, he said in one line, ‘No English, no Hindi. How?’ So, MK Stalin is also in the same situation. Rahul Gandhi can become the PM of India, provided there is someone who spends all his time in strengthening the India block.
He said, ‘A man who has been raising issues and not slogans has never said ‘Suit Boot Sarkar’, ‘Chowkidar is a thief’, ‘Vote chor gaddi chhod’. What Stalin has done in the last year is to raise every single point related to federalism in India. Therefore, I believe that he is the right person to become the Chairman of INDIA Block and he has the great quality that he will not come in the way of Rahul Gandhi becoming the PM.
Mani Shankar Aiyar said, can you imagine what will be the condition of that party which takes a rowdy like KC Venugopal to the level of Sardar Patel and Rahul Gandhi? That’s all I have to say in reply.
Pawan Kheda and Shashi Tharoor also targeted
Apart from this, Iyer also targeted Pawan Kheda and made a sharp attack. He has called Kheda a puppet. Iyer said that Pawan Kheda speaks only what he is asked to speak. They do not have any original ideas of their own. Being the head of the media cell, he only reads rote scripts.
Iyer also targeted Shashi Tharoor and said that Shashi Tharoor is outsider and ambitious. He said that when Tharoor joined the party, he wanted to achieve big posts soon. The ideology of leaders like Tharoor does not match the core ideology of Congress.
Pawan Kheda hit back
Here, Pawan Kheda retorted to Iyer’s statements and said that we respect the seniority of Mani Shankar Iyer, but sometimes the line between seniority and cold old age gets blurred. Pawan Kheda also said that his statements often cause loss to the party. The opposition gets the issue. The party is tolerating him only for his past contributions.
